Nigeria, Oct. 27 -- The Kano State Fire Service has recovered the body of a 42-year-old man, Sani Kwaru, who fell into an open water reservoir in the Dan Agundi area of the Kano metropolis.

The incident occurred at about 1 p.m. and drew an emergency response after a resident, Hamisu Muhammad, raised an alert.

"At about 13:00 hours, the Kano State Fire Service received a distress call from Hamisu Muhammad reporting that a young man had fallen into open water at Dan Agundi," the Kano State Fire Service spokesman, Kabiru Jafar, stated in a statement on Monday.

"Upon receiving the distress call, our team immediately mobilised to the scene of the incident."
