Islamic State leader Al-Muniki was not killed in 2024 but killed today - Presidency
Nigeria, May 16 -- The presidency says the controversy over the killing of ISWAP leader Abu-Bilal Al-Mainuki was caused by inaccurate information from the Nigerian military in 2024.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that Nigeria and the US announced that a joint military operation led to the killing of the terrorist early on Saturday.
However, the military had announced in 2024 that the same terrorist was killed in an operation.
This led to doubts among many Nigerians, with many questioning how a man killed in 2024 would be killed again in 2026.
In his statement seeking to clarify the controversy, Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu's spokesperson, said the information provided by the military in 2024 was inaccurate.
