Nigeria, Aug. 27 -- The International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria and the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) on Wednesday mourned veteran journalist and publisher of The Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, describing him as a committed journalist who contributed to the growth of Nigeria's media industry.

Mr Oladipo died on Tuesday in Lagos. He was 56 years old.

In separate statements issued after his death, the two media organisations highlighted his contributions to journalism, press freedom and the development of online publishing in Nigeria.

IPI Nigeria described Mr Oladipo as an accomplished journalist, publisher and entrepreneur who remained committed to press freedom throughout his career.
