Nigeria, March 7 -- The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has rejected the Labour Party's request for the commission to dissolve all states, local government and ward executives of the party and constitute a working committee.

The party, led by Nenadi Usman, had written to the commission seeking the dissolution of party executives at all levels and the constitution of an interim working committee.

But INEC said it cannot accept the dissolution request by the party.

In a reply to the party, signed by its secretary, Bose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC said the party did not give the required statutory notice for the meeting where its National Executive Council (NEC) met to decide the dissolution.
