Nigeria, Oct. 20 -- A forum on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and democracy has warned that deepfakes, cloned voices and coordinated disinformation could undermine Nigeria's 2027 general elections, calling for stronger safeguards to protect voters and electoral integrity.

The warning is contained in the outcome document of the AI and Democracy Forum 2026, organised by Yiaga Africa and partners in Abuja from 14 to 16 October.
