Nigeria, Aug. 16 -- A civil liberties advocate has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the alleged non-payment of allowances to Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officers serving in foreign missions.

The advocate, Steve Aluko, claimed that some officers are owed up to 15 months in unpaid allowances.

Mr Aluko made the call at a press conference in Jos, urging the federal government to settle the outstanding entitlements before recalling officers from their foreign postings.

He also called for a review of the deployment process, asserting that some newly approved immigration attaches were left uncertain about their postings, while some existing postings were being reassigned.
