Fuel Subsidy: Presidency tackles Atiku again, wants clarity on ex-VP's stance
Nigeria, Aug. 27 -- The presidency has again faulted the position of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who has pledged to restore petrol subsidy if elected president in 2027.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said Atiku's position shows that he either lacks a basic understanding of the policy he is proposing or is deliberately playing politics with the Tinubu administration's decision to remove petrol subsidy
Mr Onanuga said the subsidy removal had significantly improved the fiscal position of the three tiers of government and helped stabilise the macroeconomic environment.
