Nigeria, Oct. 7 -- A senior lecturer at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Matthew Uwuigbe, has died after allegedly collapsing in a hotel room following an encounter with a 21-year-old commercial sex worker.

Mr Uwuigbe reportedly died on Sunday at a hotel in the Mosco area of Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the state.

The police in Edo are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The police spokesperson in Edo, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the development to journalists on Tuesday.
