Court upholds JAMB's dismissal of former deputy director, awards N250,000 fine
Nigeria, June 13 -- The National Industrial Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by a former deputy director of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Yisa Usman, challenging his dismissal from service and the disciplinary process that led to his removal.
Delivering judgment on 2 June, Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osaghae held that Mr Usman failed to prove his case and upheld JAMB's decision to dismiss him for misconduct. The court also ordered him to pay N250,000.
The judge ruled that the claimant did not provide sufficient evidence to support his allegations, stressing that he could not rely on perceived weaknesses in the defence to succeed.
