Nigeria, Sept. 24 -- Iran has threatened to "paralyse" the airports of neighbouring countries should they reject Iranian flights due to the latest US sanctions. The threat on Wednesday came as China opposed the latest US sanction and said it would not comply with it.

The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei, on Wednesday, said it will ensure that no airport in the Gulf region can function if its flights are forced to stop operating.

"If you ban our flights and enter into cooperation with America, your airports will have no flights. If you stand with America, we will not stand by and watch," Reuters quoted him as saying.
