Nigeria, Sept. 12 -- Rangers International have survived a nervy CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie against AS SOBEMAP of the Benin Republic, edging the Beninese champions 5-4 on penalties after another 1-1 draw in the second leg at Stade de Kegue, Lome, on Friday.

The result saw the Flying Antelopes progress to the second preliminary round after the two sides finished level at 2-2 on aggregate, following identical 1-1 draws in both legs.

Rangers had entered the decisive encounter knowing that anything short of victory would put their continental campaign in danger after they were held to a frustrating draw in the first leg at their temporary home in Abeokuta.
