Nigeria, Sept. 16 -- Two newly deployed Mobile Police officers attached to Ayilamo community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State have been killed in an ambush by armed attackers.

The incident occurred at about 6 p.m. on Monday, 14 September, while the officers were escorting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ayilamo, who was returning to the community from Makurdi.

This makes it six police officers killed in Ayilamo within four days, following the death of four Mobile Police officers during an attack on the community on Thursday, 10 September.

The spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, Peter Aondongu, confirmed the latest incident to journalists in Makurdi on Tuesday.
