Army rescues 22 kidnap victims in Niger
Nigeria, Sept. 17 -- Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 22 people kidnapped by terrorists in Muchiya village, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 18 Brigade, Adebayo Adewumi, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Mr Adewumi said the rescue was carried out on 15 September after troops of 18 Brigade Garrison and 45 Battalion received intelligence about the convergence of terrorists in the area.
He said the troops launched a fighting patrol and the terrorists fled into the surrounding forest after sighting the advancing soldiers.
