Nigeria, April 1 -- The Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, has resigned from office following the presidential directive mandating political appointees seeking elective positions to step down by 31 March.
His resignation was contained in a press statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Umar Jibril, and made available to journalists in Gombe.
Mr Alkali seeks to be Gombe State governor on the platform of the APC.
In his resignation letter, the minister appreciated President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity given to him to serve the country, while reflecting on what he described as key milestones achieved in the transportation sector during his time in office.
