Nigeria, Aug. 6 -- Permit me to continue with the point that I touched on in the preceding part of this contribution about Nigeria's firsts and our monumental achievements, when compared to others on our continent.

Still on education. We touched on Oxford University in the third part of this essay, so permit me to focus on Cambridge here.

As stated earlier, the first African to attend Cambridge University was George Gurney Nicole, a Nigerian/Sierra Leonean who attended Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, studied Law and graduated with a B.A. in 1879.

The second African to attend Cambridge University was Francis Henry Fearon, a Nigerian/Sierra Leonean, who studied Law and graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge, in 1891.
