Nigeria, Sept. 2 -- Thirty years after helping Nigeria secure its first Olympic football gold medal, three Kaduna-born members of the historic 1996 "Dream Team" have finally received recognition from their home state.

Governor Uba Sani on Tuesday awarded former Super Eagles stars Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Babayaro, and Garba Lawal with plots of land and street names in Kaduna.

The three former internationals were members of the Nigerian team that made history at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, United States.

Their visit to the Kaduna Government House was part of a courtesy call on Mr Sani, during which the governor recognised their contribution to Nigerian football and their role in the country's historic Olympic triumph.
