Fincantieri wins Viking order for two expedition cruise ships with options for two ocean vessels
Switzerland, March 4 -- Fincantieri has secured an order from Viking for two expedition cruise vessels and signed an agreement covering options for two additional ocean ships, according to Fincantieri. The contracts are subject to financing and customary conditions and fall into Fincantieri's "very important" category for cruise agreements, defined by the shipbuilder as contracts exceeding €2bn ($2.18bn). The expedition vessels will be delivered in 2030 and 2031 from Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard and will be sister ships to Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris, built by the group's Norwegian subsidiary Vard and delivered in 2021 and 2022.
