Fincantieri to build a new class of high-speed unmanned surface vessel
Italy, April 21 -- Fincantieri will build Spectre, a new class of high-speed unmanned surface vessel developed by Saildrone, through its U.S. subsidiary Fincantieri Marine Group, according to Fincantieri. The move pushes the Italian shipbuilder deeper into the industrial production of autonomous naval platforms as Western fleets sharpen demand for deployable unmanned capability at scale.Construction will take place at Fincantieri's shipyards in Wisconsin, where the group plans to apply serial production methods used for advanced aluminium vessels to a multi-mission platform aimed at modern naval operations.
