Japan, Aug. 21 -- Japanese classificationned Taiwan's Evergreen Marine, South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries and Japanese weather specialist Weathernews in a project to verify fuel and greenhouse-gas savings from AI-based voyage optimisation on a commercial vessel, according to ClassNK. The four parties signed a memorandum of understanding at Evergreen's headquarters. ClassNK published details of the project on 20 August, but no fuel-saving target or expected percentage reduction was disclosed.
