Australia, March 5 -- Austal Defence Australia and Damen Shipyards Group have signed a contract under which Damen will provide the design and licences for Landing Ship Transport (LST) 100 vessels to be built by Austal at its Henderson shipyard in Western Australia for the Australian Defence Force, according to Austal. The agreement follows the Commonwealth of Australia's November 2024 decision selecting the LST 100 as the preferred design for the Australian Defence Force's Landing Craft Heavy programme after a competitive tender process.The contract signing took place at the Australian Marine Complex Common User Facility in Henderson with representatives from industry and government present.
