ADB President Urges Faster Delivery on Southeast Asia's Connectivity
Philippines, Aug. 26 -- At a high-level Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gathering in Manila today, Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda urged governments to move faster from plans to financed projects, stating that delays in building cross-border power, transport, digital, and financial links are leaving Southeast Asia exposed to the next global shock. The conference was opened by Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, Economy, Planning and Development Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia President Tetsuya Watanabe.
