Puerto Rico, April 9 -- The Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) has awarded ACCIONA the contract for the rehabilitation of the Sergio Cuevas drinking water treatment plant, which will have a treatment capacity of 305,000 m³ per day once the work is complete.The aim of the contract-which is worth US$152 million (€131 million)-is to repair the damage caused to the plant by the 2017 hurricanes, improving and optimizing operations to enhance the resilience of the existing facility, built in 1948, which currently draws water from the Carrizo Dam on the Loiza River.The rehabilitation, which will take about four years to complete, includes upgrades to the water pipes, the sludge treatment line and the dosing systems, as well as ...
