ABS and HD Hyundai units launch study of nuclear-powered propulsion for 16,000-TEU container ship
United States, March 11 -- American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering and HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries have launched a joint development project to study the conceptual design of a nuclear-powered electric propulsion system for a 16,000-TEU container ship, ABS said in its news release.The partners will assess the technical feasibility of installing a nuclear-powered electric propulsion system on a vessel of that size.
