Yamuna pollution up at 3 sites, BOD above limit
India, Oct. 9 -- The Yamuna River, which enters Delhi at Palla Village and exits at Jaitpur, saw a slight deterioration in water quality at certain locations in September, with faecal coliform levels dropping sharply from the previous month, according to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
The Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels, meanwhile, remained high and well beyond the permissible limit for September. DPCC water quality testing involves collecting water samples from seven locations along the Yamuna River through the national capital and measuring parameters such as BOD, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand, pH, and faecal coliform to determine pollution levels.
