India, Aug. 2 -- A 38-year-old woman died after being swept away by a rain-swollen seasonal stream in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district on Sunday, officials said.

The incident took place in the Badma area, where Vinita Devi had gone to collect grass. She slipped and fell into the overflowing stream following heavy rainfall, according to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

The SDRF and police launched a rescue operation after receiving information about the incident. The woman's body was recovered after a prolonged search, the force said.
