India, May 12 -- A dispute over the alleged beating of a stray dog in west Delhi escalated outside Kirti Nagar Police Station after an animal lover allegedly assaulted a security guard, police said on Monday.

The incident came to light after a video showing a woman repeatedly slapping and hitting the guard with slippers went viral on social media. Police said both the alleged assault on the dog and the attack on the security guard are being examined.
