India, May 13 -- Actor-turned-politician Vijay secured a crucial victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly after winning the floor test with the support of 144 legislators, officially confirming his position as the state's new Chief Minister.

The confidence vote witnessed 22 members voting against the motion, while five legislators remained neutral during the proceedings. The development comes weeks after Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged victorious in the recently concluded Assembly elections, reshaping the political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
