India, June 4 -- A 17-year-old student from Uttar Pradesh was found dead in his hostel room in Rajasthan's coaching hub Kota on Thursday, police said, marking another tragic incident in the city known for its competitive exam preparation centres.

According to police officials, the student was found hanging in his room. No suicide note has been recovered so far, and the exact reason behind the death remains unclear.

Jawaharlal, a local police officer, said the student had been in Kota for the past two years and was preparing for engineering entrance examinations at a residential coaching institute. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, which will be conducted after the arrival of the student's family.
