India, April 4 -- Selling or exposing for sale any article without authorisation in the Delhi Metro will soon attract a penalty of up to Rs 5,000.
Besides, drunken behaviour, holding demonstrations, and walking on tracks in the Delhi Metro is set to attract heavy fines as the Centre brings in changes under the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026. The Bill was passed by the Parliament on Thursday.
Anyone drunk on Metro premises will be fined between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 if the Bill clears Parliament. This is currently capped at Rs 500. The passenger can also be removed from the Metro premises if found drunk.
