India, May 11 -- A Turkish Airlines aircraft carrying 278 passengers and 11 crew members caught fire during landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on May 11, 2026, triggering an emergency evacuation but fortunately resulting in no injuries.
The flight, identified as TK 726 operated by Turkish Airlines, was arriving from Istanbul when the incident occurred at around 6:45 am local time.
According to airport authorities, flames and smoke were seen emerging from the aircraft's right landing gear as it touched down on the runway. Emergency protocols were immediately activated, and all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
