India, July 27 -- Amid a high-profile electoral contest between the BJP and the Congress in Madhya Pradesh's Datia Assembly by-election, one candidate has succeeded in shifting part of the campaign narrative beyond traditional political equations.
Sanjana Singh, a transgender leader, former government employee and Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, is contesting the election with a message centred on inclusion, dignity and political representation for the transgender community.
