TMC's Abhishek urges LS speaker to decide on rebel MPs' disqualification
India, July 28 -- Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Monday submitted two letters to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him to expedite a decision on the party's pending petitions for disqualification of its 20 rebel MPs and revoke changes made to the seating arrangements of its parliamentarians.
Banerjee met Birla at around 11.15 am in the Speaker's chamber, with the meeting lasting about 20 minutes, sources said.
According to sources, the Speaker did not give a clear response on the issue against the rebel MPs.
In his first letter, Banerjee said the 20 disqualification petitions, filed on June 19 under the Tenth Schedule to the Constitution and the Members of Lok Sabha (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 1985...
