India, June 3 -- The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is witnessing a major internal crisis in West Bengal, with rebel MLAs claiming support of nearly 50 legislators, triggering speculation of a possible split within the party.

According to reports, a suspended TMC leader alleged that around 50 MLAs recently held meetings at a private location and are preparing to stake claim as the "real Trinamool Congress" in the state assembly. The group is also said to be planning to approach the Assembly Speaker with demands related to party recognition and leadership changes.
