India, Sept. 4 -- The seizure of 5.60 lakh Yaba tablets weighing nearly 60 kg and valued at more than Rs 168 crore in Assam's Cachar district is not merely another narcotics seizure. It is a warning about the rapidly evolving drug trafficking landscape in the Northeast. Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Silchar, recovered the consignment from the Jujhang Pahar area of Lakhipur during a joint operation on Wednesday (August 26). A suspected drug peddler was arrested, and a truck allegedly used for transporting the contraband was seized.
