Thai woman found overstaying in India for 5 years, now detained in Kolkata
India, Aug. 4 -- A Thai national, who allegedly overstayed in India for more than five years after the expiry of her visa, was detained during a raid at a spa in south Kolkata, a police officer said on Monday, August 3.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team raided a spa on Sarat Bose Road late Sunday and intercepted the woman, who claimed to be a resident of Samutprakhan, Bangkok, he said.
During questioning, she was unable to produce any valid documents authorising her stay in India, he said, adding that she was subsequently taken to the police station with the assistance of women police personnel for further examination.
