India, Aug. 21 -- A 32-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, who kept her body in the boot of a car while planning to dispose of it, in Telangana's Hanamkonda district, police said on Friday.

Police reached the spot on Thursday night after receiving information that a foul smell was coming from a car parked in Elkathurthy mandal. On checking the vehicle, they found the woman's body wrapped in a blanket inside the boot.

Police identified the deceased through an Aadhaar card found in the car and informed her parents. The accused, a 34-year-old man, was also identified and taken into custody.

The woman and the accused were childhood friends, and he was also known to her parents, police said.
