India, Nov. 8 -- The Telugu Desam Party-led NDA alliance has secured a decisive majority in the rural local body elections in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna and NTR districts, winning 494 of the 619 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats and 37 of the 42 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats.

The results give the alliance control of both Zilla Parishads and a majority of the Mandal Parishad president positions in the two districts.

In NTR district, the TDP won 201 of the 276 MPTC seats. Its allies Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the BJP secured 22 and one seat respectively. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) won 50 seats, while the Bahujan Samaj Party and CPI(M) secured one seat each.
