India, April 28 -- Women voters outnumbered their male counterparts in exercising their franchise on April 23, with over 2.52 crore women, constituting nearly 86.2 per cent of the total female electorate in Tamil Nadu, enthusiastically casting their votes.
The male electorate that voted accounted for 2.35 crore, which was 83.96 per cent of the total male electorate in the state, an official said on Monday.
Tamil Nadu saw an impressive voter turnout, with over 4.87 crore electors casting their votes across all 234 Assembly constituencies in the State.
This included 4,517 third-gender voters, who represented 58.44 per cent of the registered third-gender electorate.
