India, July 15 -- A woman was killed while trying to protect her daughter after a man allegedly attacked his former fiancee in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. Police said the accused, identified as 32-year-old Yuvaraj, allegedly stormed into the family's home after the woman called off their engagement, reportedly citing the age difference between them.

According to investigators, the accused allegedly targeted the 21-year-old woman with a sharp weapon. Her mother, Vinayaga Jothi, intervened to shield her daughter but sustained fatal injuries during the attack.
