India, May 4 -- Counting of votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026 is underway, with early trends indicating a strong performance by actor Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is leading in over 100 constituencies across the state.

According to Election Commission data, TVK is ahead in around 105 of the 234 seats, while the AIADMK-led alliance is leading in approximately 75 seats. The ruling DMK alliance is trailing with leads in about 47 constituencies.

In a significant development, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is trailing in his Kolathur constituency against TVK candidate V.S. Babu after multiple rounds of counting. Several senior DMK leaders and ministers are also facing tough contests and trailing in key seats.
