India, July 9 -- The Supreme Court has sought detailed action reports on illegal and unsafe buildings across the country and summoned senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to appear before the court in connection with the matter.

The court is examining concerns related to unauthorised constructions, violations of building regulations and the failure of civic authorities to take timely action against unsafe structures.

The Supreme Court has asked authorities to submit reports detailing steps taken against illegal constructions, including enforcement measures such as sealing, demolition and other action permitted under the law.
