India, March 13 -- From a remote village in Kerala to competing on an international stage, Sujith's journey in athletics is one marked by determination and courage. Hailing from Thrissur, the visually impaired athlete was identified for his talent during the National Games in Odisha in 2022 by his coach, Amarjeet Kumar. Born into a family of farmers and with less than 50 per cent vision, Sujith competes in the T13 category. Recognising his potential, Amarjeet ensured that the young athlete moved to Delhi to train professionally by supporting him despite his modest financial background.
Years of rigorous training led Sujith to clinch two gold medals - in the 100 metres, clocking 11.53 seconds and in the long jump with a leap of 6.28 metre...
