India, July 14 -- A sub-inspector posted at Madhu Vihar police station in East Delhi shot himself with his service pistol on Monday and died of the injury. Police said the initial information indicates he had been suffering from depression for several days as senior officers and a forensic team reached the station to examine the scene and collect evidence.

The deceased has been identified as Somesh Meena, a Sub-Inspector of the 2019 batch. He shot himself on the upper floor of the Madhu Vihar police station.

Personnel present at the station heard the gunshot and rushed to the spot, where they found him injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Senior police officers and the forensic team arrived...
