India, July 10 -- At least 12 people were killed in a devastating wildfire that swept through Los Gallardos in Spain's southern province of Almeria, as extreme temperatures continued to fuel dangerous fire conditions across the country.

Spanish authorities said several victims were found inside burnt-out vehicles, according to local media reports. Around 150 firefighters have been deployed to battle the blaze, while the cause of the wildfire is yet to be determined.

Spain's Military Emergency Unit (UME) is expected to join firefighting operations to help contain the rapidly spreading fire and assist local emergency responders.
