India, June 1 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday said the launch of the South Coast Railway Zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, marks the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream of the people of the State. He said it is a "historic milestone".

The commencement of operations comes weeks after the railway ministry issued a gazette notification defining the jurisdiction and organisational structure of the SCoR.

The zone is expected to enhance rail connectivity, freight movement, and regional development.
