SLC hopes inaugural Women's Champions Trophy next year stays in Sri Lanka
India, Sept. 1 -- Sri Lanka's interim cricket Board says it would correct itself "from the very foundation" to ensure that the inaugural Women's Champions Trophy next year remains in the country amid speculation that the ICC might relocate the event due to government interference in the sport's administration here.
Interim Committee chair Eran Wickremaratna, appointed by the country's sports minister, said his committee is committed to reform the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
"We are very committed to really correcting from the very foundation. We are not backing out," said Wickremaratna, without elaborating.
