India, Aug. 4 -- Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Monday, August 3, appointed senior Congress MLA T B Jayachandra as pro-tem Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly until a permanent Speaker is duly elected by the House.

Currently, the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker are vacant and are likely to be filled during the monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature, which will begin on August 13
