India, July 24 -- Security was intensified across central Delhi on Thursday as authorities tightened restrictions around Jantar Mantar amid the continuing Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) protest.

This included ordering commercial establishments in Connaught Place to shut early, closing several Metro stations, suspending internet services in parts of the New Delhi district, and implementing extensive road diversions.

In a significant precautionary measure, the New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) advised all shops, offices and restaurants in Connaught Place to close by 6:30 pm after receiving telephonic directions from the chairperson and vice-chairperson of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
