India, Sept. 23 -- Sangita Srivastava has been reappointed Vice Chancellor of Allahabad University for a second five-year term, making her the first person in the varsity's history to serve two terms in the post, according to officials.

President Droupadi Murmu, in her capacity as Visitor of the University of Allahabad, approved Srivastava's appointment for another five years or until she attains the age of 70, whichever is earlier, a senior Ministry of Education official said.

The appointment letter reached the university on September 23, which also marked its foundation day.

Srivastava assumed charge as Vice Chancellor on November 30, 2020, becoming the first woman to head the university.
