India, April 15 -- In a historic political shift, Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar, becoming the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to hold the state's top post. The oath of office was administered by Governor Syed Ata Hasnain at Lok Bhavan in Patna, marking a decisive moment in the state's political evolution.
Choudhary's elevation completes the BJP's dominance across the Hindi heartland, where it already governs key states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. Bihar, long seen as a political outlier, has now formally joined that fold.
